Michael Whatley
Executive Vice President of Consumer Energy Alliance, Mr. Whatley served as the Chief of Staff for Senator Elizabeth Dole; Subcommittee Staff Director and Chief Counsel for the Environment and Public Works Committee in the United States Senate, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the United States Department of Energy, and Counsel to the Republican Conference Secretary in the United States Senate. He also served as an attorney and Senior Policy Advisor for the Bush-Cheney 2000 Campaign and the Bush-Cheney Transition Team.Mr. Whatley manages the Washington, DC office of HBW Resources and represents a wide range of energy- and transportation-sector clients on a broad set of energy, environmental and transportation issues in front of both Congress and the Administration, as well as before state governments.
Prior to his public service in Washington, Mr. Whatley served as a law clerk for the Honorable Robert D. Potter, Senior United States District Judge for the Western District of North Carolina.
He holds a JD and Masters Degree in Theology from the University of Notre Dame, a Masters Degree in Religion from Wake Forest University and a Bachelors Degree in History from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
